Happiness is the new rich.

Inner peace is the new success.

Health is the new wealth.

Kindness is the new cool.

I stumbled across this quote yesterday. And I must say, it really resonated.

True story:

I have found one seemingly easy way to be a millionaire overnight. And after long deliberation I decided to not go after it.

However…

I believe that this is a key life hack that we need to practice now and then.

Thinking ahead. Thinking strategically.

Thinking how to avoid the pot holes and the “freeways” that will actually not lead us to freedom or inner peace.

By playing out a scenario, we can find peace in what we are actually pursuing in life.

I unpacked the whole process from beginning to end. And I saw glimpses into the future I knew would not make me happy and fulfilled. Instead, it would NOT bring me the to a path of freedom, joy and my definition of success.

So, I avoided it. I rewrote my story. And I set on another path.

It was deliberate and intentional. And by playing out what the future would look like, I avoided a big “success trap.”

I saved myself from choosing poorly. I saved myself from a quick win that would not stand the rest of time.

Instead I chose a detour

It involved more time. More patience. And more, like a cricket test match. But hey, I was game. I was starting to understand the season of playing defensive, playing with a bigger game plan to last the whole test match.

I had to dig deep.

The end goal: I knew what victory looked like, as these players showed me via mainstream tv – the look of sweet, sweet victory.

Playing to win a long game was an opener to playing to guard my peace.

Peace is a wonderful state of mind. It allows us to find the answers when we feel we have surely given up.

Peace is strength to yield against defeat.

Peace gives you a fresh perspective.

Peace is fortitude to last the night season.

Peace makes a way where darkest persist.

Deeper still, inner peace can weather the storms of life. With hope of better days ahead.

What does it look like on a practical level?

  1. I’m weary of how much I give to others when I know I a stealing my joy and peace. I deliberated take steps back. Say no to invitations. Decline politely.
  • I take time for self care = Sharpening the saw. Take time out for myself to unwind and relax.
  • I have my list of enjoyable activities that range from good music, chatting w friends, shopping, short drives in my car, writing, planning, reading, podcasting
  • Prayer and meditation

When I have a clear picture of what I’m going after (my key goals for the season) and I add peace to the equation, I find balance.

With balance, so much can be achieved. And achieved in a short space of time.

As a Productivity Coach, this is an excellent starting point for my students and clients. It’s all about creating harmony. And a state of flow throughout the day.

I’m not in a hurry to tick things off my list. But I am always reminding myself life is short.

We gotta enjoy it. Enlarge it. Do awesome things that sets our story apart.

I agree with the quote:

Happiness is the new rich.

Inner peace is the new success.

Health is the new wealth.

Kindness is the new cool.

It makes perfect sense.

Signing off. Peace be with you.
